Ibra Gateway
Ibra, Oman         2009
Architecture – Landscape – Planning

The Ibra Gateway was designed for a gateway residence atop a hill within a private farm in Ibra, Oman. The master-plan was designed to accommodate three separate houses that are connected together by common areas and clubhouse. The main house, designated as phase l, would house an over-sized dining room adjacent to the clubhouse for large family and guest gatherings.

The design was inspired by traditional Arabian, and particularly Omani, architecture. The playful layout was dictated by sun and wind orientation, the existing hilltop topography, and the programmatic relationships between the various rooms and spaces. Calculated wind-catcher locations, shading angles and panoramic views of the farm below were key to design.
