The Obour Buildings are a series of five, four-story buildings designed and developed by CDD in the Obour suburb in Cairo. The buildings are within the central commercial district regulating ground floor retail, first floor commercial and upper residential facilities.
The plans were based on a simplified structural layout to maximize efficient use of spaces throughout the buildings, in addition to trash chutes and a collection facility located in the parking lot beneath each of the structures. The exterior design reflects a modern interpretation of the historical district of Korba 20 kilometers away that was constructed in the early 1900’s around a similar program which still retains its architectural elegance while providing the same functions it did when constructed.
