The Ramsis Square redevelopment competition called for entries to redesign the historic square that had now been taken over by numerous flyover bridges and chaotic jammed transport stations and open markets. To achieve a suitable design, investigation covered the transportation network of Greater Cairo, the surrounding urban fabric, pedestrian and public transport infrastructure, and modern methods of pollution remediation.

The urban meso-scale proposal was developed in collaboration with New York based MethoDesign Architects, and ARUP Engineers.
