Salalah, Oman 2007
Engineering – Landscape – Planning
The Salalah Coastal Zone Development master-plan is a long term vision for the touristic development of the southern city of Oman. More than programmatic development and deign, the master-plan required two years of coordination amongst the ministries and authorities of tourism, planning, culture & antiquities, and environment, in addition to the local communities. The design guides of the open space were established by thorough investigations into the natural and environmental parameters and conditions of the unique site. The client was a public-private partnership between the Omani government and private investors. Collaboration of stakeholders, expertise, and design was orchestrated by CDD across four continents.
The project was designed in collaboration with HOK Architects and Engineers in Washington, DC.
